When I type ./configure, I get this error
checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
Anyone know what does it mean?

it means what it says - your C preprocessor has failed the sanity test (most likely due to messed up gcc installation)
