is it required to have atleast 1 port open for telnet? i dont want any ports open from eggsdrop.

HMM. - I don't think it is a requirment to have any listening ports.

Note, if disabling this, then only "/dcc chat <bot>" will work, and not "/ctcp <bot> chat".

My advice would be to allow the listening port, but look at the security features available in the config file.
