Eggdrop on QNAP NAS (TS-439 Pro)

I am interested in running some Eggdrop bots on my QNAP NAS but wonder how to set it all up.

There has been some talk on the QNAP forums but there is no how-to, I actually wonder if anyone really got it working at all.

Where should I begin? I have SSH access and it looks like I can activate an ipkg module from within the webinterface of the NAS.
