I do not think it's stated anywhere on tclscript.com that alice will work with anything other than an eggdrop! You're trying to use it with a Windrop which can indeed run most TCL scripts, but not all.

From alice.tcl v1.4.0 README.txt:

1) Eggdrop1.1.5-Eggdrop1.6.x
2) egghttp.tcl v1.0.3 or higher (TO BE LOADED BEFORE THIS SCRIPT!!)

I use local irc in my office, i placed my bot on windows xp sp2 with eggdrop and cygwin. server 10.5.1.55 port 813. but not have internet conection. everytime i talk with my bot that must be found "hippie.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." and if i close hippie.exe on irc display :

i was succesfull load alice.tcl with hippie 0.4.7. but if someone try to pv my bot, the hippie.exe must display windows error.

of course it is erroring...your eggdrop must have internet access to run alice.tcl. I still don't understand of what use an eggdrop could be without an internet connection to the IRC....

Indeed, Alice communicates with a website, you can't make it work without internet. megahal will run just fine as alchera said and it's quite similar to alice

As far as I am aware unless there's an Internet connection alice just won't function.

Have you considered the MegaHAL module? No internet connection required.

alice requires a connection to one of 10 servers and to have egghttp.tcl v1.0.3 or higher loaded first.
