botnet's "Ping timeout" has nothing to do with ICMP, botnet's "ping" is simply a bot message over the TCP connection between bots which needs to be answered within a pre-defined period of time<br><br>apparently your TCP bot-to-bot connections have a problem, you need to investigate that (check your firewall, test with other network services, ask your admin if you have one, etc.)<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="https://forum.eggheads.org/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=5056">demond</a> — Fri Dec 10, 2004 8:56 pm</p><hr />

Hi all I am having a strange problem with all versions of eggdrops that I run<br>If any one has the time or has seen this problem ... <br>Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br><br>Information:<br>I have 1 hub bot running on my home machine<br>freebsd 5.3 stable<br><br>I have several bots on other servers that i would like to link to my hub bot<br>In this example i will stick to 2 bots _ hub and BSD the bot i want to link.<br>i use .+bot host:port on both bots like it says in the help file<br><br>My hub bot _ listens on port 50000<br>The bot BSD i want to link listens on port 40000<br><br>On the bot BSD i wish to link i type   .link _  (_ is the hub bots name)<br><br>[08:58] #talon# link _<br>[08:58] Linking to _ at <a href="http://www.unix.org.au:50000" class="postlink">www.unix.org.au:50000</a> ...<br>[08:58] Received challenge from _... sending response ...<br>[08:58] Linked to _.<br>*** Linked to _<br><br>On the hub Bot _ I see this<br><br>[09:58] Telnet connection: BSD'sHOSTNAME/50230<br>[09:58] Timeout/EOF ident connection<br>[09:58] Challenging BSD...<br>[09:58] Linked to BSD.<br>*** Linked to BSD<br><br>Bottree looks good !!<br><br>[10:01] #talon# bottree<br>_<br>  `--BSD<br>Average hops: 1.0, total bots: 2<br><br>Life is good <img class="smilies" src="https://forum.eggheads.org/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title="Smile"> everything is normal on both bots<br><br>[09:00] Writing user file...<br>[09:00] Writing channel file...<br><br>After about 5 minutes I see the following<br><br>On BSD the bot i want to link <br><br>[09:05] Ping timeout: _<br>*** Ping timeout: _ (lost 1 bot and 1 user)<br><br>On _ the hub bot I see The following<br><br>[10:05] Ping timeout: BSD<br>*** Ping timeout: BSD (lost 1 bot and 1 user)<br><br>I have no idea how to fix this <img class="smilies" src="https://forum.eggheads.org/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":(" title="Sad"> <br>i have tried updating recompiling unloading all scripts etc etc<br>Its rather annoying i must say<br><br>---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br><br>Could it be the time thing both bots are an exactly an hour out of sync<br>Daylight savings crap ??<br><br>Both machines block ICMP (Pings) ??<br><br><br>Please Help Me Jason aka Talon<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="https://forum.eggheads.org/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=5769">Talon</a> — Fri Dec 10, 2004 7:09 pm</p><hr />
