I figured it out

I had the name, nick, username too long. I simplified made shorter names, and kept all similar and all works, even got my third bot made and loaded to irc in 5 minutes

If the shell has vhosting simply type (via telnet) vhosts to get the list. Both confs can use the same hostname/ip as most networks allow up to 2 clones.

ip and host may be problem

i have the same ip and host for first bot,so i only used host for first bot (its still running,but i did not shut it down and try to bring it back in, so may be problem) and used set my-ip for new bot

do i need to have set my-ip and set my-hostname on both bots and should they be same or different. If differnent, how can i use a diff ip, when its the ip of the location of the shell?

Make sure you're loading the channel & irc modules.

Also make sure that the set my-hostname & set my-ip settings are valid.

i configured the bot sucessfully (this is my second bot with its own dir)

and telneted to the bot and ./eggdrop -m myBot.conf
and it created the files as did with first bot in its own directory. I went over the conf file and all is as should be like with my first bot, channels it is to join, port (listen) changed, so not to be same as first bot, username, real name, etc, all seems as tho its working well, except that when i go in to the channel in irc, that its supose to join, its not there for me to /msg bot hello to it.

so i did a /whois and no such nick returned, i even /invite myBot #chanNameHere

and no such nick came back

Any tips on what I could do?

I been reading and re reading on eggdrop help. I even removed the dir and started from scratch.
