Regardless of any RFC status, this looks like a bug.

While it maybe true that the server is not RFC complient, it joined the channels in the first place.

Then upon restart it failed.

I have just tested a simalar situation on efnet, and managed to get the bot to refuse to do anything with the channel, I had to ".dump" commands to the server to make it leave.

I will submit this as a bug, and see what happens.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Sat Jan 05, 2002 12:11 pm

Hi Mr_p, ppslim

Another reason of that happening might be becouse Quakenet isn't rfc1459 compliant (and Eggdrop follows those protocols).

_________________
MaSsKilla

#eggdrop
Undernet

[ This Message was edited by: masskilla on 2002-01-05 03:16 ]
Statistics: Posted by masskilla — Sat Jan 05, 2002 6:14 am

I've got a very irritating problem with my eggdrop bot that occurs whenever I restart it, or it becomes disconnected from the Quakenet server. When the bot rejoins IRC, he wont Op, voice or anything anybody. It just sits there looking dumb. It will however allow me to DCC it.

To start off with I configured the bot to work in 1 channel. This worked fine and allowed me to restart the bot without any problems. Shortly after I decided to use the bot in another channel as well as the current one. I did this by adding the appropriate lines in the config file and then doing a rehash. The bot joined the new channel and worked perfectly in both channels!

This was until it became disconnected and did the sitting looking dumb thing :/

To get the bot working again, I had to remove the lines which configure the new channel from the config and then start the bot again. Once the bot was in IRC, then re-added the lines for the new channel and rehash'ed. The bot then worked perfectly again. As you can imagine this is a real pain :/ also the bot loses the user flags for the channel, so I have to .chattr all the users for the new channel again.

Once I have gone through this process it all works again!

Does anyone know why my bot does this? and more importantly how can I fix it?

Many thanks

Statistics: Posted by Guest — Thu Jan 03, 2002 7:06 pm
