gcc problem?

I have asked the admin to install the older version, the one I didn't had problems with. He did told me something about the glibc-devel but he didn't said exactly if it was or not installed. A lil bit confused.. Thank you anyway.

I see. Then I'll ask if not force the admin to check again and install it if is missing. I'll keep you updated when I'll have something new to tell. Thank you.

Umm.. dosen't seem to be this. he said it's up-to-date or something, no problem with this.. but still is not working

Administator installed gcc, but forget about glibc-devel.

checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

what can I do in this case? The administrator had installed the latest gcc version around (a lil bit too paranoia or something like this anyway if you ask me) so I think it's something with the gcc compiler. Is there something else than installing an older (normal version of gcc I may add)?
