mIRC uses random ports in the range 1024 to 5000

I'm not certain which port range X-Chat &c use though.

For minimal dcc you need to set the listening port to a 4 digit number
as irc servers on the protocol everybody knows have 4 digit numbers or greater.

Normally 4 digit numbers, from the range of 1024 to 65535 which
would be the last listening port on most machines.

It doesn't matter if a "listening" port is configured in the eggies conf file or not, it doesn't affect DCC Chat from an IRC client. Check your IRC client's DCC Options and also your firewall settings. If using ICF as your firewall use this link and this link to easily set it up.

Um, port 25 is for sending outgoing e-mail in your e-mail problem, please make sure this is eggdrop that we are talking about and not an outgoing mail server, thanks.

port 25 doesn't reflect the eggdrop.
if you set port 25 for the eggdrop, pick another port, say 12345.

try /ctcp bot chat

I am having trouble getting into bot using dcc chat. My ISP has blocked port 25 which is causing me real problems. I can receive dcc chat requests from other people. Is there a script that will dcc chat request back to me when i try to dcc chat with the bot? My attempts at telenet'ing have been unsuccessful as well. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.
