if you use the search feature you will find a script that automaticaly sets the ident for you when using oidentd

Could I load it and use a preset oidentd.conf file?

oidentd is a admin installed rpogram and is nothing you can install.

The only control you have is what is in the oidentd.conf file in your home dir.

This isn't somthing that is [censored], it has existed longer than eggdrop has and is nothing eggdrop has any control over.

Speak to your shell admins about an identd demon like oidentd. However, expect to be told no, and in some cases laughed at.

depends on what identd you use...

for example oidentd (the most common one i'd say) allows multiple idents, just edit the ~/.oidentd.conf and set your desired ident there....

If its a shell, then usually the account's name would be the ident. else the username set in the conf file will be the ident but it won't support identd (i.e. "~" will be in ident).

if its windrop, then use winident.tcl it fix the identd problem.
