Eggdrop can't do this unless the IRCD supports it, then eggdrop would need to be further coded to log the messages.

This exact question has been asked in the past, and I was as baffled then as I am now.

This is somthing you should look to impliment on the side of the IRCD.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Tue Aug 19, 2003 6:27 pm

Yes I would like eggdrop to spy on people in query if possible.

As far as the ircd I know pretty much nothing about what version it is, all I know is it is very very old.
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Tue Aug 19, 2003 3:19 pm

I don't get it, but do you mean that the eggdrop will have the capability to spy on people talking in query?

If yes, then I don't know how you would do that.

If no, then what do you mean? I have a feeling that you're telling that you want the bot to log conversation involving two or more people (because, if the eggdrop can see someone's conversation, it means it's also involved in it, and that only means that all three are in one room, and that is a channel) then, you can log the channel. Just watch the starting bot of the eggdrop conf closely.. you'll encounter a line starting with "logfile", it has the instructions too.

Or if this is not it, please be more specific. And what kind of ircd you use? (clients don't really matter)
Statistics: Posted by Yourname — Tue Aug 19, 2003 3:03 pm

At our company we use an in house fairly generic IRC client that is much similar to mIRC. The one big difference is we don't have masters, operators, or such. Pretty much everyone is just a peon. I have installed eggdrop and am able to do pretty much everything I want except one thing. I would like the eggdrop bot to be able to log private messages between 2 users in the chatroom other than the bot itself. We actually need to be able to do this somehow for SCC regulation, and I was curious is there is anyway I can get the bot to log other peoples private message? Thanks!
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Tue Aug 19, 2003 1:56 pm
