Hi there.......

It's not hard at all. You can be as new as a newborn baby. Only thing you have to know how to do is READ! Not many know how to do this, but I gather from what u asked you are willing to READ and UNDERSTAND.

The Conf file is over 1,000 lines long, so make sure u read every line and understand everything in there, in case problems arise with that part of the bot.

The experience you can gain from entering those few linux commands on the shell can go very far.

The commands I think you should familiarize yourself most with is the untarring/unzipping/compiling/starting a program process. It can go far in your linux learning.

just follow the steps provided at egghelp's setup page to install the eggdrop on your shell.

edit the .conf file carefully and read it carefully. then just add some scripts to it (use someone's help if needed) but u will gain lots of experiance within the process.

as for the nick's length, it doesn't matter.

Hi, I have a question regarding setting up eggdrop 1.6.15. I'm planning to set this up on efnet on a channel with 20 members more or less. I'm not that familir with linux, can do the basic stuff like logging in and displaying, deleting, copying files..that's about it.

What level of experience/knowledge does it take to setup an eggdrop successfully? I never compiled anything on linux before, on a scale of 1 to 5.. what do you think the difficulty of setting up an eggdrop is at? I just want to know what to expect when setting it up, does it really take a genius to set one up? It looks very complicated.... One last thing, what is the ideal number of eggdrop nicks for my channel size? Thanks for your time.
