I got it running. I'm not sure what the problem was. I commented out
the virtual ip thing, I think that was one mistake. I also restarted the eggdrop without the -m and it joined the channel. Probably just a simple error all along. Tks for your time in helping me!
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Wed Aug 06, 2003 3:35 pm

Have you replaced the name of the server, the port and the password (if needed) with the actual values?
Statistics: Posted by caesar — Wed Aug 06, 2003 11:11 am

Okay, I checked the conf like too many times. Now I can telnet into my bot but when it tries to connect to the server it says:

Failed connect to chat.server.com:port number (Invalid namespace)

What does this mean?? I thought the proper format for set server was

server:port:password

If I'm doing something wrong let me know. I looked at for extra spaces but I'm not sure what it means.
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Wed Aug 06, 2003 12:39 am

Hi,

I ssh into my shell and then type telnet; then open and the hostname port. Supposedly after this, you are supposed to type "NEW" as your nickname and say hello to your bot. The problem I'm getting is it says:

You don't have access.
Connection closed by foreign host.

I'm not sure what's causing this. Earlier I had wondered why my bot was joining the channel but I couldn't /msg bot hello him in IRC and found out I hadn't had telnet set up to a port. I fixed my config file and then killed my pids and restarted the bot again but now he's not even joining the channel.

Is there an easy way to fix all this, or do I have to run config again and
have a new eggdrop installed??
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Tue Aug 05, 2003 2:29 am
