Right, step by step.

Run the program "winipcfg" in windows.
Click ont he more button.
There should be a DNS server listed. Copy this value.

Edit the reolve.conf file, and place this IP in the file.

Edit your config file. You may note that many of the lines start with a #.
The # symbol at the begining of a line, means it is a comment, and is ignored when the bot is run.
So your previous post would eman that some of your lines are ignored.

CHange the "set my-ip" line, to reflect the IP of the machine the bot is running on (remember to delete the # at the beginig of the line as noted above).
This IP address is nothing to do with your name server. Read the documentation (IE the line above the setting in the config file) for more information on what it's for, and what avlue it should be.
This value is also available on the winipcfg screen.

In reality, half the comments in your post, are due to lazyness. You ask questions, quoting a line, when only 2 lines previous to the one pasted (in the originating document), it is fully documented.

Please try finding the information for yoruself next time, both by reading all the eggdrop documentation (included with eggdrop), sites like egghelp.oeg and by searchign the forum.

ok i changed my resolv conf to this the dns server from my puter

# nameserver = DNS server list

nameserver 68.46.144.5

Now do i have to upload the windrop bot to somewhere?I want to run the bot from my puter.I am not behind a firewall or router.

I dont know how to do this part?
/ctcp botname chat and telnet botip:port ?
do I don that in the dcc chat?

is this set up correctly?

that is my dns server ip form my puter i guess

The nameservers your computer uses are obtainable from using the winipcfg program.

There are two reasons why you can't DCC chat the bot. First, the bot isn't running. If you read the output your bot gave carfully, the bot tells you it thinks it is allready running, and instructs you what to do.

Second, your DCC chat isn't resolving. This may be because the bot isn't online.

As for it displaying 0 channels, you should re-read your config file carfully.

From a rather quick glace, you have all the channel settings like commented. All comments are ignored by the bot. This allows for documentation to be placed in the file.

change namserver to the ip of your isp's DNS server

Otherwise it will not be able o process irc.test.com addresses, and you will have to connect using an p address

Is the bor running on your workstation or on a different computer?
Are you behind a firewall or router?

If I understand you right, you can't dcc the bot. If so, did you try /ctcp botname chat and telnet botip:port ?

Before you start the bot, make sure there isn't a old pid left.

you should also uncomment the set-my ip and set my-hostname lines.

The ip in the resolve.conf should be one of a working dns server, like one your isp is running.

All i changed here was my ip address to this.
Is there something else to be added and how please?

Where would this go in here this is where i connect to Maja.TX.Us.Wondernet.nu

And my channel is #xbn

Firstst at all, i didn't have a look at your config files (tooo late here ).

Unable to resolve address
Unable to connect
DCC session closed

Windrop requires a resolv.conf (comes with the windrop archive), dis you configure this resolve.conf ?

I detect PSXbot already running from this directory.
If this is incorrect, erase the 'pid.PSXbot'

You try to start the bot twice. If you are sure you shut down the bot properly, find the remaining pid and delete it.

I did register my bot name on my channel.At least i think i set it up correct.I am always getting
