As stated on coutless posts (there is a search button). This could be a number of things.

DCC chat works in reverse order.

When you do "/ctcp bot chat", the bot will send details to your clinet, on where to make the connection too.

As such, the correct port and IP must be sent by the bot for this to work. If there is a firewall on the machine, or between the machine and the internet, then the ports need to be opened.

If the bot if behind a router, on a internal network, then the connection to the bot, terminates at this router, as it doesn't know where to send this connection. To fix this, the router needs to have this port forwarded.

You could try doing a "/dcc chat bot" in your clinet. This sends a port and IP to the bot, which it attempts to connect too.

This may be better suited, unless you also have a firewall or router, in which case, your settings needs to be changed as well.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Sun Nov 10, 2002 9:55 am

Once again, sounds like a connection problem.

Either telnet in (if you can do that) or run the bot -n and then pull out the error messages you get on the console when you ctcp it. This way we'll have a little more to go on.

I take it nothing has changed firewall or nat-wise on your or the bots setup?
Statistics: Posted by Photon — Sun Nov 10, 2002 9:23 am
