DCC chats and sends work in a reverse order.

When your bot tries to send the file, it will send it's IP, port number and filename. When the client clicks on OK, there client makes a connection to the IP and port sent.

Thus, a firewall (not likely) or a router is in the way of the connection suceeding.

If it's a router, then the router doesn't know where to forward the connection too, and will usualy ignore the connection request.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Wed Nov 06, 2002 2:12 pm

I hate to say it, but it is kind of obvious that it will work from your machine to your machine....

Yes, it probably is a port problem - not sure which port eggy uses for file transfers, believe this can be set in the conf file. You need to make sure this port is open/forwarded (dependant on your setup).

Can you dcc files to other people from this same machine? Although mIRC is slightly different in that it allows constraint to a range of ports for DCC. Check the console on the bot when you do this command for more revealing error messages (make sure you console level +n (.help console for more...)).

Good Luck!
Statistics: Posted by Photon — Wed Nov 06, 2002 1:05 pm

I tried to find a similar problem searching the forum but no luck so here it goes. As soon as someone types the get trigger *!dumb.zip* they will get the irc warnings that somone is trying to send them a file. as soon as they click ok they get a message that they could not establish a connection, and the bot times out on dcc send. Now when I do it from my computer ***also the one the bot is run from*** it connects fine and I get great download speeds. I am running a XP box and I have all my firewalls off.
It seems to be a port problem or something but I am not sure what to check....anyone seen this before?
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Wed Nov 06, 2002 12:39 pm
