The config file provided with eggdrop, assumes that the DNS module will be in use by the bot.<br><br>As such, with all modules, they are loaded using a command in the config file.<br><br>Thus "eggdrop assumption" + "config file command" = "Wanting to load DNS module"<br><br>As the DNS module was not compiled on your system, you simply remove the required line in the config file.<br><br>This is documented.<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="https://forum.eggheads.org/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=2">ppslim</a> — Sun Nov 03, 2002 2:49 pm</p><hr />

Hi all,<br><br>I'm trying to configure/compile the eggdrop but there is a serious problem :<br><br>When I start the script "configure" the DNS part tells me :<br> <br><br>running in eggdrop mode.<br>loading cache ./config.cache<br>checking for gcc... (cached) no<br>checking for res_init in -lbind... (cached) no<br>checking for __res_init... (cached) no<br>checking for __res_init in -lresolv... (cached) no<br>checking for __res_init in -lbind... (cached) no<br>checking for res_mkquery... (cached) no<br>checking for res_mkquery in -lresolv... (cached) no<br>checking for res_mkquery in -lbind... (cached) no<br>checking for __res_mkquery... (cached) no<br>checking for __res_mkquery in -lresolv... (cached) no<br>checking for __res_mkquery in -lbind... The DNS<br>  module will therefore be disabled.<br> <br><br>Pretty all checking are "no" and the warning is not really a warning because without this module, I can't start the eggdrop <img class="smilies" src="https://forum.eggheads.org/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":(" title="Sad"><br><br><br>If i go futher on, the "make config" and the "make" ended correctly but when i start the eggdrop application, it tells me :<br> <br>Eggdrop v1.6.12 (C) 1997 Robey Pointer (C) 2002 Eggheads<br>[20:58] --- Loading eggdrop v1.6.12 (Fri Nov  1 2002)<br>[20:58] Can't load modules dns: dlopen: Win32 error 126<br>[20:58] Module loaded: channels<br>[20:58] Module loaded: server<br>[20:58] Module loaded: ctcp<br>[20:58] Module loaded: irc<br>[20:58] LANG: No lang files found for section notes.<br>[20:58] Module loaded: notes            (with lang support)<br>[20:58] LANG: No lang files found for section console.<br>[20:58] Module loaded: console          (with lang support)<br>[20:58] Module loaded: blowfish<br>[20:58] Listening at telnet port 3333 (all)<br>[20:58] Module loaded: uptime<br>[20:58] * Please make sure you edit your config file completely.<br> <br> <br>Ok, i did not modify the "conf" file but the problem is before =&gt; [20:58] Can't load modules dns: dlopen: Win32 error 126<br><br>I don't know how to solve this problem...<br><br>I have ever sent a mail to Slennox but may be i was wrong : the problem is not present due to the dlopen library but due to the unreachable socket library.
