Eggdrop works nicely on 486 and dialup, so i guess there is something wrong with your box/connection. It is unlikely that bad config can slow your bot down, but you should check what load does it make onthe box and what it is doing. Read the man page for 'top'.
Statistics: Posted by darko`` — Sat Nov 02, 2002 11:35 am

So my machine is FreeBSD 4.6, pentium|| 200 Mhz 7gb memory and 64 mb Ram. Ought to be enough, huh ? my connection is adsl 700 kb down 128 up ..
earlier installations managed more code and more functions faster
i have no idea, could it depend it on the eggdrop config file ?
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Fri Nov 01, 2002 2:10 pm

oubtful, even a dial-up connection can handle this many channel wihtout issue.

One posibility could be the mchaine the eggdrop is running from. Not enough memory, CPU, the usual stuff.

It's possible the scripts you are running can cause this.

EG, the TV script may have to retrieve a page of information from the internet. This will need to be downloaded and processed before output can begin.

You should make sure your running ht elatest version of eggdrop and the Tcl script, then you start enabling the scripts one by one, to see if they are causing the issues.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Fri Nov 01, 2002 11:17 am

Oh, im sorry, my english got bad, since i'm not longer in school.
So, for the first time, i used the bot, i put him, in 3 channels.
i added the bseen, tv, and few other simple scripts ..
but now the eggdrop react on a command only, when i write it 2x times, so, also there is just the ping/pong traffic from two of the channels, i wanted to ask, whether the bot isnt able to manage the traffic because of to few connection ressource or false configuration.

do you understand ?
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Fri Nov 01, 2002 11:03 am

The traffic depends on the channel traffic, and the way you have eggdrop setup.

Fromt he 4th October, up till last night, I have sent: 53.9 and received: 113.3MB.

This is an over average load.

My bots operate in 5 channel, 1 is a IRC help channel, 1 a f-serv channel (high load), 1 high load user channel and 2 tiny channels.

Included in this, is userfile sharing, and a high load logging script (all logs on each bot are sent via botnet).

This is taken form my shell providers control panel. You can use the ".traffic" command in the bot, whioch will give you more information.

It all depends on the load of your channels, and what else the bot does.

As for deleting the directory. If you have used "make install DEST=", to install it in the /usr directory, then yes, you can rmeove the compilation directory.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Thu Oct 31, 2002 2:11 pm

well, two of the chans are "workchans" so the bot has nothing to do, and the third chan is visited relatively well for my thinking (10-18 people at one time in the chan ..)
so when you installed your eggdrop, you dont remove the installation directory ?
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Thu Oct 31, 2002 1:50 pm

Hi,
my eggdrop now manages more channels ( 2-4 )
Does anyone knows, how much the traffic increases, when i manage more of them ?
My second question is, aftter i extracted the tarball into the directory eggdrop1.6.12 and installed the eggdrop . the egg runs now from /usr/eggdrop ..
So after Installation/Configuration, may i delete the eggdrop1.6.12 directory ? it seems as isn't used anymore

Thanks in advance
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Thu Oct 31, 2002 12:57 pm
