Eggdrops progressions for finding the IP it would tell a leaf to get a userfile on is as follows:

IP specified in 'my-ip'
Hostname specified in 'my-hostname'
IP corresponding to system hostname

If you don't specify either the IP or hostname you'd like to use in the config, eggdrop will ask the leaf to connect to an IP that represents the system's name. Often times this IP is not reachable by the leaf (something like 192.168.1.xxx is common) and results in a failed userfile transfer.
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Fri Nov 02, 2001 2:13 pm

Hi -

I have a botnet of 16 bots. 1 hub and 15 leafs. All bots share userfile with hub. Everything is working fine .... but I am trying to add a new bot today, which went fine also ... untill it tried to get the userfile from the hub. The bot links to the hub fine, but wont get the userfile. Here is what I see in DCC on the hub.

<hub-bot> [22:41] Timeout/EOF ident connection
<hub-bot> [22:41] Linked to Leaf17.
<hub-bot> *** Linked to Leaf17
<hub-bot> [22:41] Creating resync buffer for Leaf17
<hub-bot> [22:41] Sending user file send request to Leaf17
<hub-bot> [22:44] Timeout on userfile transfer.
<hub-bot> *** Disconnected Leaf17 (timed-out userfile transfer)

As you can see the bot does link ... just times out on transfer Please help me find this problem !

thanks

Crypto

p.s. flags are HUB +ghp LEAF +sg

Statistics: Posted by Guest — Wed Oct 31, 2001 1:48 am
