In simple terms, there is not that much to do when upgrading eggdrop, but it involves a little reading, to understand what is likely to affect you.

If the original installation has been performed correctly, then all should be fine.

It's a simpel case, of unpacking and compiling the bot.

You should then read the UPDATES file in the doc directory, find out what has changed.

It will give you an idea of what changes config settings have changed, and anything that may effect the peformnace, or what you thoght somthing should do.

Knowing what config file changes, additions and delettions have been made, you should now look in the config file, and make the required changes.

Now, kill you bot (using .die in the partyline).

Complete the eggdrop installation, using the "make install" (with DEST= if needed).

You should now be able to start the bot, the way you normaly do.
