n00b Q reg. alice and .chanset in DCC

I am not re-wording them, more correcting them.

You base your answers on one hypothetical possibility, rather than saving the time of re-visiting the question.

Simply stating that somthing isn't replying, and getting a answer of a firewall issue, could very well lead down the wrong track.

Being the author of the scripts in question, I can say with all authority,
that indeed, my answers are correct.

Depending on how the script works, the following things might be causing this.

A, it's not even talking to a alice server. This is a problem on you end, most likely a config issue.

It's conecting the alice server, but is uanlbe to gain a connection. This is not likely a NAT issue, because if eggdrop is connecting, then connections are being routed correctly, as such, so should the alice connections. It could be a firewall problem, as such, you should see the documentation on forwarding the correct ports numbers.

Weeee!
I managed to set +alice at last by simply telnetting to the bot.
Fine!
But alice is still not responding =(
Now I'm out of clues.

Your problems stem from your firewall setup. Since alice.tcl (egghttp.tcl) require outbound access, you need to figure out what settings on your firewall you need to change in order to allow this to happen. Also, as always, read the FAQ that comes with the script.

You need to set your ip in mIRC so that it dont think that it is a internal ip connecting to the eggdrop... I run a NAT server on RH7.2 and my eggdrop are hosted off that..

The eggdrops is trying to connect to the internet on ip 192.168.100.6 (but that is a internal ip)

Fix:
mIRC
Goto file - options - connect - localinfo

Make sure that you have the ip that the internet is using in there!!

To get your ip just write cmd(win2k-winxp)/command(win98) in start and that will give you a msprompt window. In that write ipconfig. That will list all ip info!

I currently have 3 computers behind a Freesco router.
Router: 192.168.100.1 + external IP
Eggdrop: 192.168.100.2
mIRC: 192.168.100.6
other: 192.168.100.7

I've tried changing the "my-ip" and "nat-ip" settings according to the numerous posts in the forum. Tried all possible combinations =)
Tried /ctcp /ctcp $botnick CHAT
this is what i get:

Haddock: are you on a network or are you just running a eggdrop off the same computer that you are using to talk to it on.

If this is so then make the telnet port active!

Eggdrop.conf

# If you would like the bot to listen for users and bots in separate ports,

That sould allow you to use /ctcp $botnick CHAT.

Make sure that you also have the ip for the eggdrop set.!!

I run eggdrops from my box and to map the ports so I can dcc chat them is just a pain in the ^%%, anyway I found out the other way to do it..

/ctcp $botnick CHAT

That will make the bot dcc chat you, then you dont need the ports to talk to it!

Hi!
I can´t get alice to respond.
I belive the problem is that I can´t .chanset #chan +alice ??
or?
The bot is located at a comp. at the same network so I can´t DCC Chat with it. Anyone know how to solve that?
Or is there another way to .chanset #chan +alice other rhan in DCC Chat?
Or I'm I way off here? =)
Really would like to get it working...
