No there isn't any differance. This applies eggdrop and all other irc clients.

IRC actions are performed using the CTCP protocol (a suplimental layer, on top of the PRIVMSG and NOTICE IRC commands).

CTCP messages are sent using the PRIVMSG command, and CTCP replies are sent via the NOTICE command.

but now i wonder, isn't there any difference between CTCP ACTION and a real action according to eggdrop?

ok ty,
i've figured how to do it with the bind NOTC, but how does a bind CTCP related to all this? is this bind gonna catch actions on the channel for me?

If you keep reading tcl-commands.doc a tiny bit more, you will find the answer.

Read the section regarding pubm. It states it is only used for channel text.

Channel notices are totaly different to channel text.

Actions are somthing different again.

Look at the CTCP and NOTC binds.

how come when i bind pubm it won't triger when actions or notices said on the channel? (only when text)
which bind shell i use?
