willyw: I am back here because I just figured it out and wanted to let my "discovery" be known. By sheer luck, I found the usage of ".chanset" in another protection script, one I downloaded to use in place of the factory-installed eggdrop prot. Funny how I stood on the other side of the plate and hit a homerun =) lol<br><br>Thanks for your help, willyw. First, do:<br>.help set<br>and read the return.<br><br>Next, do:<br>.help chanset<br>and read the return.<br><br>Sorry -  I overlooked it in your earlier posts.    <br>You were using the wrong command.   You were setting the value of a variable.<br><br>Next, go here:<br><a href="http://www.egghelp.org/commands/channels.htm#chanset" class="postlink">http://www.egghelp.org/commands/channels.htm#chanset</a><br>to get a nice, easy to read explanation of the chanset command.<br><br>(By the way, I think you are doing a good thing, by checking again with .chaninfo , right after making a change.  Can't hurt.  It is good to be sure.  I assume this is how you found your problem. )<br><br>By now, as you've read this, you've probably tried it, and have it figured out.   <img class="smilies" src="https://forum.eggheads.org/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title="Smile"><br><br>Now visit:<br><a href="http://www.egghelp.org/commands/index.htm" class="postlink">http://www.egghelp.org/commands/index.htm</a><br>and perhaps bookmark it.<br>It is very helpful.<br>So is the bot's built in command, .help  . I have eggdrop 1.6.21 installed and it seems to be running nicely. However, the seen command only works in DCC chat window with the bot. Shldn't it also work in the main channel for regular users too? Just wondering.
