Not connecting

Usually when I have trouble with a bot connecting to a server I can telnet or SSH connect to it and 'usually' it gives an error message there everytime it tries to connect to a server. i.e "dns lookup failed" or "too many connections from host" so on and so on. One ides would be to add more servers, havng only ONE server for the bot to connect to, in my opinion, is only asking for connection problems. You say it tells you in SSH that it's 'on line', can you paste in here just all what it says when it asys that? Also when it tells you it's on line, are you on the same server? If not try to make sure you are. Could be a server that is split all the time and when it joins later, you think it's just coming on line when it's been on and a split is just ending.

Good idea, but it can't be the actual problem. Today, I ran the thing (only one server on the list, only one port to listen to [no range]) and left the computer (that was like 15:00).

7 hours later, the bot joined where it was supposed to join...

*shrugs*

Try telnet'ing to the listen port. Sounds like the servers its trying to connect to are rejecting it or do not exist. Double check the servers section of the conf and either define more servers or take out ones that are not working.

Yes, i have a similar problem.. i run eggdrops on two small nets, and when running the third one (specifically: on UnderNet), it doesn't show up on irc, sometimes it does (since i left him running last night, today in the morning it was up). So it takes him more than 3 hours.. any ideas?

I've set up my bot. Everything appears perfect form ssh but it doesn't appear to be online. It shows it is from ssh it says USERNAME online: 1 channel, 0 users.

But i can't MSG it on IRC. Any ideas?
