Uh well, It wasn't supposed to sound like nagging you .
I like your scripts coz they are well written and working well. I rather prefer a stable one than a windows like script .
But the damn eggies just work fine, I need something new to play with, hehehehehe.

It's a matter of when I get time... sentinel.tcl for one went through several overhauls during the Christmas and Easter breaks, but I didn't fully complete the work. It takes hours of continuous free time to get my brain in "development mode" and work on it propely, so it will probably be a while yet. This is why I made the stopgap 4.09 version.

Beyond relatively simple changes to my scripts (e.g. +R support in sentinel.tcl) I won't be doing anything for DALnet because:

1) In order to write a script well I have to care about the thing it's being written for (i.e. myself, money, if I owe someone a favour, or for a motivating idea).

2) I really don't give a rat's arse about DALnet

DALnet scripts are best written by people who use DALnet and appreciate its quirks, or by one of the forum slaves.

Well I would quote what u said in a previous post "none of the scripts that react with services qualify as the 'standard'".

I am using Amigo's DALserv.tcl script. There are no excellent "services" scripts out there. If anybody knows any please let me know.

I have a request Slenny. Since I honestly think Netbots is the best package I have ever used so far and I frankly wouldn't consider using any other, do you think it would be possible that u write a script that interacts with DALnet services and include it in the next release ?
Thanks in advance for taking that request into consideration.

And thanks for interfering some place else in this forum to stop things from deteriorating further more (Hint: I was only giving my personal opinion and I had clearly specified that in my first post that I had nothing against anyone.)

Presumably, the ChanServ script would have a mechanism to know whether the bot has successfully identified or not. botnetop.tcl would query this, and if it comes back as not identified, it wouldn't bother requesting ops.

What about if services are offline for several hours. The bot won't identify but should ask for op from other bots of course.
It's a critical issue.

By the way how did you do that animated laughter in your previous post ? lol dunno what I should call it but it's cool.

To make it request ops only so many times is simply ugly from my perspective, and would turn my nice clean script into a mess of variables and timers.

One alternative, a mimimum delay (as I believe some other DALnet user wanted, perhaps for a similar reason), would not fully solve the problem.

The best solution is for the botnetop script to interact with the a ChanServ script so that it doesn't request ops until it's identified, but with the number of ChanServ scripts out there and none of them qualifying as the 'standard', this is impractical.

Sometimes when chanserv is online and the bots do not identify for some reason (ignoring *!*@dal.net) botnetop makes the them go crazy.

Scenario:
-Bot A gets on the channel
-Bot B ops Bot A
-Chanserv deops Bot A (coz not identified yet)
-Bot B ops Bot A
-Chanserv deops Bot A (coz not identified yet)

etc....
Is there a way to make Bot A request ops only once or twice after joining the channel ? Or does it request ops non-stop each time it's deopped ?
