.chan~bak and .user~bak [SOLVED]

They're backups of the user and channels files, and are automatically created by renaming the old user/channels file prior saving a new one. Their purpose is to maintain an old copy of the user/channels file whenever a new one is saved, just in case something would go wrong (process is killed while saving, disc quota exceeded, etc).

Hi, at first insalled my eggdrop directory does not have these files. What are they and what purposes do they serve? They just started to appear. It's in the format *.chan~bak and *.user~bak
