Your host probably changed so your bot does not recognize you anymore. Telnet into the bot and add your new hostmask into your handle.

HI

few weeks ago my eggdrop was responding fine to /ctcp eggdrop CHAT

but now nothing happens i am thinking its my new computer and new installation of mIRC

can someone please tell me what settings i need to do to get this working

I'm having a similar issue. I cannot start a DCC chat with the bot.

I've tried
Code:
/dcc chat Eggdrop
and
Code:
/ctcp Eggdrop chat
I've also tried mIRC and Xchat.

The bot is obviously on the network because I can MSG it. I'm not sure if it's a configuration error or what.

Any help would be appreciated

The problem is more than likely, port forwarding and your using a router. To correctly use IRC you need to forward port 59 (dcc), port 113 (ident), port 1024-1031 (8 get/send/chat windows). If you need more than 8 get/send/chat windows raise the 1031 appropriately. This will satisfy IRC if you forward those ports to a specific IP on your router.

The other problem might be as simple as a firewall reacting inappropriately. You will just need to allow the ports mentioned above (59,113,1024-1031) to get through it.

The only other thing it can be if you remove the two above. You've changed your host entry to one other than the one used when issuing the 'hello' to your bot and gaining ownership. If you change hostmasks your bot will forget who you are. See .+host and set your masks wisely...

Edit: this is the result of clicking 'restore session' in firefox after the crash during posting above.. odd

I have simple problem. When using /dcc eggdrop I got just this:

And thats all. Don't say enter your password.
