cool now it works

i removed these lines in /etc/profile

#heavy optimization
CFLAGS="-fexpensive-optimizations -march=i586 -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer"
CPPFLAGS=$CFLAGS

can it couse trouble when i run other programs or is it just some optimations that isnt working anyway

grep -R "march=i586" /* 2>/dev/null

be warned that that will search *every* file on the system to see if it contains the string march=i586, and could take a very long time to finish. might be better to just search /etc/* first.

no, the host type its referring to is your system and architecture. possibly the -march=i586 is causing this. try removing this (dunno which file is inserting it though - check /etc for something that contains default make flags)

could it be my hostname im not sure how to set it up should /etc/HOSTNAME and /etc/hosts be the same ? (configure: error: can only configure for one host and one target at a time)

heh i never had these problems maybe its the distro its rootlinux 1.3 pre2 kernel 2.4.18 amd cpu

hmm, well I don't like -O3, but that shouldn't be affecting anything here. tell me the system and architecture you're compiling on, and paste the output of ./configure

the Makefile for compress.mod is made with 'make config'. Firstly ensure you've actually run this command (like it tells you to do). Then check if it errors when you do that.

Looks like a file is missing. Verify if you have enough HDD space or you exceed your quota (allow a max of 20Mb to install the bot). Delete the directory and re-extract (tar zxvf eggdrop1.6.9.tar.gz)
