The version checking can't be done only from the server side with an addon designed to do this. Google for one.

Hello, I am looking for some tcl that check users for ctcp version while connecting to my IRC Server and report the versions or a specific version I want to a channel. I guess the bot needs to be a operator also for it to work. Does anyone have such a script?
