Eggdrops runs excellent on fbsd, and seeing your machine is that old I am almost certain bsd will outperform a linux dist.

What is the best machine to run eggdrop off of, I looking to run it off FreeBSD, the computer it self is only a pentium 1, which runs FreeBSD decently. Just not sure how eggdrop will do on it.
