In the price, or in the service provided.
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Tue May 14, 2002 9:06 am

UKshells are a good company.

Untill 2 weeks ago, a bot called splitatom, was sitting in 38th place in the uptime charts (13th out of the eggdrops).

This bot was mine, and had been hosted on UKshells.

With air conditioned rackmounts, 24/7 in house support, you can't go wrong.

Shell accounts are not there main goal any more, but they still support the service 100%

And if you wonder why I lost my place in the uptime charts. There site in london had a power out. They do have backup generators, that kick in beforwe the UPS units die. Yet deisel does not last forever, and you cant fill a deisel tank while it's running like a petrol tank.

I do have a second account with them too. 6 months ago, they had problems with this server, where the machine was dieing once a week. This lasted for 2 1/2 months, until they where able to fully diagnose the fault.

Out of 20, they would get a 19. The other 1 went missing when I lost my place in the uptime charts
Statistics: Posted by ppslim — Mon May 13, 2002 1:48 pm

Well I have an account with http://www.complete-hosting.com and I find their service very stable. Also level of support they provide is one of the best ive ever had, thats why i stick with them because various other shell accounts I have had, takes ages to reply to any support questions you ask
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Tue Mar 19, 2002 7:03 pm

Complete Hosting: http://www.complete-hosting.com I have another much cheaper one, much more reliable, and fast, very little strain on the servers, often showing load as "0.0 0.0 0.0" Thats, http://www.netplayuk.com (I think)
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Fri Feb 22, 2002 2:01 pm

I wonder if anybody knows of any good shell providers in the UK? I'm fed up of mine - the servers keep dying, and they have failed to fix my FTP (meaning the only way I know of to upload from my hard-drive, is to first upload to my websites FTP, then download it from there using the Unix FTP on my account).

Thanks for any suggestions
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Fri Feb 22, 2002 10:18 am
