As far as i'm aware, it is impossible to do it as you have described. When talking to another user, no direct connection is established - it goes through the server. Hence, the only way to find the IP is to do what you have done, after starting a DCC with the user, by sending a file to them.
Statistics: Posted by Guest — Fri Feb 22, 2002 8:14 pm

Hi,
This is nothing connected to eggdrops/IRC. Please excuse.

I am chatting with a fren on msn/yahoo, and whoze IP i dont know.
First off, how do i find out the IP of the person im talkin to.
Next, can i be sure its him/her?

Then i know, we can run neotrace on that IP to find out the location.

As far as i've tried, i tried running netstat after closing all windows and IMs except the one im chatting on, and then i got the output and i traced the IP which i wuz sure about cuz it wuz listening on some other port unlike port 80 for http, etc. Is this the only way? And is this the correct way?

Statistics: Posted by Yourname — Fri Feb 22, 2002 8:30 am
