the bot recognise you from your host ONLY.
on dcc as you say bot asks you the nickname.there you have type your HANDLE and not your current nickname.
how can i see what is my handle in the bot?
open on shell with vi or pico editor the .user file and look there.
if i have set pass how can i connect with the bot if i dont know my handle?

if i connect to bot on party line how can i see my HANDLE?
typing .who on partyline you will see your handle and your real ip what you are connected.
when a open a dcc chat with the bot !
he ask me for a nick
i enter my nick !
and no answer !
i try commands but no command work !
after the bot close the chat with Time out message !
and now lets type the basicaly things:

that is the procedure.
if nickname is wrong bot answer:You don't have access.
connection timeout meaning many things but not connectivity or settings problem.
bot running on shell? is personal server or public? we talk about eggdrop or windrop? did the bot running under lan on local network?In what line run the bot?you type is your connection line?
