My eggdrop is running for 3 years now I have to kill the process from time to time in order to make telnet work.

This is definitely an eggdrop problem.

not necessarily, and in fact, highly unlikely, for reasons I won't elaborate on right now; you might want to test with another network daemon app (run by you, not by root) on a non-standard port - leave it up & running for couple of weeks, then try to connect to it and see if you have any problems - if you don't, only then you can reason that this is an eggdrop issue

for the record, I've had eggdrop running for over a year, and I've never experienced such problem
Statistics: Posted by demond — Fri Aug 26, 2005 3:17 am

I AM on my shell account using PuTTY. And from there I do telnet localhost xxxx. This is definitely an eggdrop problem. It occurs when the bot is up for longer than ~14-21 days.
Statistics: Posted by fabius — Fri Aug 26, 2005 3:05 am

Hello guys,

I have encountered a problem connecting to the eggie via telnet. After ~14 days uptime telnet is extremely laggy but still lets me in. After ~20 days i can't even login. The bot itself is running like a charm. Every trigger works without problems. I have to kill eggdrop's PID and restart it in order to be able to telnet again.

Any clue?

Markus
Statistics: Posted by fabius — Thu Aug 25, 2005 9:38 am
