In the meantime, you might want to visit #eggdrop on Freenode IRC network, and let them know the details of what you have discovered, as that version of stats mod is on the eggheads website. They should want to know.

Or

When you describe everything that you observe, including crash messages, they might have some suggestions for you to try.

You might want to ask if anybody has - or would - install it and test it, too.
Just to see if they get the exact same results as you.
This really should be done.

Thanks willyw, indeed the stats.mod posted on the eggheads FTP compiles, the problem I'm having with that version is that it crashes my eggdrop when I try to publish the webstats. I reported the issue on Florian's github, that's why I was looking for version 1.4.

I haven't tried that specifically.

However, I did remember seeing something, some time ago.
For what it is worth:

Try:
ftp://ftp.eggheads.org/pub/eggdrop/modules/1.8/

There is a stats mod there, but not the same version that you mentioned.

If you go to:
http://www.eggheads.org/news
and scroll down to:
"Eggdrop v1.8.0 Stable Release! "
and click it, you can read a few paragraphs there. One of them is where I got that ftp link from.

Hi guys:

I'm trying to install stats.mod 1.4.0dev20 on eggdrop 1.8.0 but it's failing to compile. Checking on Florian Sander's github I found a branch called eggdrop-1.8 but that one fails on install as well. Has anyone managed to make this module work on eggdrop 1.8.0 (or later)?

This is not a direct answer to your question. You reminded me of it though.

To test / learn / experiment with a tcl command that is new to me, I've learned to utilize the partyline command:
.tcl

Same for when I want to experiment with a new proc that I'm writing.
Since a proc is just a named group of commands, it can be called just as if you created a new command with the proc name. So I call it using the .tcl command.

It's quick and easy.

The errors show up, I debug, and try again. Once I get past it, THEN I try it with the full script, however it is designed to be used.

Apart the tclsh envroiment? I honestly don't know. Since the TCL language is used here mostly oriented towards eggdrop you will need to reinvent some of it's functions to mimic some of the results and this helps to some extent, but in the end you will have to load the code on a bot and test stuff out.

Hi is there any program to test tcl scripts without using eggdrop and connectiong to irc? I am new to this thing and when I test the tcl script on eggdrop I have to connect to the bot and irc to test it. Can I do it offline using only my computer? Like making website using microsoft's frontpage (Old School) and have it tested offline.

Channel settings are stored in the .chan file (whatever you named it, in eggdrop.conf)

It sounds like - for some reason - the change to that file is not happening when you do .-chan #mychannel.

If ever the channel was added via eggdrop.conf itself, then it would not be a dynamic channel ( one added via .+chan partyline command).
Even if you commented it out, later.

Honestly, I can't remember if you are even allowed to .-chan a permanent channel like that. For a long time now, it has been recommended to NOT add channels via eggdrop.conf, but to only use .+chan . I always do it that way because I want to get control of the bot (say Hello, set pass, log in, etc. ) BEFORE it ever joins a channel.
So, I forgot if you can .-chan such a channel, or not.

You CAN set it +inactive though. That means that it still exists in the .chan file, but is inactive. Means that bot won't join that channel.

Try: .chaninfo #mychannel
and I bet that right now, it is -inactive.

Then do: .chanset #mychannel +inactive
to change that. Bot will leave #mychannel.

Do: .chaninfo #mychannel again, and see that it is +inactive now.

Do: .chansave to be sure it is saved. (Bot saves periodically on it's own eventually anyway)

Do: .status and at the bottom of the report you'll see all channels in the bot's chan file, and their current status.

If #mychannel is a permanent chan, there is a way to get it out of there, if you really want to. But that's for later. Let's get past your current question first.
