I'm just proud to announce that eggdrop.fr is gonna be 20yo on july, 25th.

Initialy, the forum was a copy of slennox's forum, as a subdirectory of one of my sites (apr 2004 - july 2006) and then i decided to buy eggdrop.fr and migrate the forum to this domain.

Now, eggdrop.fr a forum (https://forum.eggdrop.fr), a wiki (https://wiki.eggdrop.fr), a library (https://scripts.eggdrop.fr) and the channel #eggdrop on zeolia.chat, linked (via chanrelay) with the Epiknet's channel :)

Even if the activity goes down and down, I keep it alive !

I'll probably create a small event to celebrate this birthday, feel free to propose things in https://forum.eggdrop.fr/Bientot-20-ans--t-1851.html (in french or in english)

I'm trying to launch the IRC World Day:
The IRC protocol, designed by Jarkko "WiZ" Oikarinen and Darren Reed in August 1988, was formalized in May 1993 by RFC 1459. We could celebrate this on May 14th (14/5/93) and organize an #ircday event.

This gives us a little less than two months to come up with ideas for events to bring together the IRC community and help people rediscover this protocol that we love so much.

Do you have ideas about things we can do this day ? I was thinking to have interviews of pple from the darkside (devs of kiwiirc, unrealircd, eggdrops, ...), why not having also users' story and experiences of IRC...

I think he may had love the evolution of eggdrop, with the integration of python, and I'll try to work on his scripts to make some tutorials about python scripts for eggdrops.

Sorry, english isn't my native language, so I can tell all I want to tell, but I hope 2025 will be a better year than 2024, for everyone and for the community.

This is a big loss for our community but that's nothing in proportion to the people who now miss a beloved family member / close friend. My deepest heartfelt condolences to all people who bonded with him during his life.

Back in 2006 we used one of Spikes scripts to set up a free trivia room for people to play in. Spike helped us a lot and up to a couple of years ago, used to pop into our room to say hi. The last time he visited he stayed for at least 4 days 😊 – said he forgot he was there lol but he was always welcome

He will be missed 😊
